Job Summary:

Directs and coordinates major gift fund raising efforts and coordinates institution-wide fund raising activities at UT Health San Antonio under the direction of the Executive Director, School of Medicine.  Hold a focused cancer portfolio as well as a generalized portfolio with focus on Research and Basic Science along with other institutional priorities.

 

Job Duties:

  • Identifies and cultivates sources of funding.
  • Leads the solicitation of major gifts for defined portfolio.
  • Manages a split portfolio supporting Cancer and Basic Science and Research
  • Manages a portfolio of high potential prospects as part of the institutional advancement team to coordinate cultivation and solicitation strategies to close gifts to drive private support for the school and institution.
  • Leads the strategic development of relationships with donors and prospects in a manner that best meets the needs of the donor and maximizes fundraising potential for institutional priorities.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director of Development collaborates with the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty and staff to prepare and submit private funding proposals.
  • Responsible for donor stewardship plans for assigned prospects.
  • Establishes and maintains strong and effective relationships.
  • Utilizes constituency database (Raiser’s Edge) to coordinate donor plans and donor recognition as well as report on progress of activity.
  • Plans and implements short, medium, and long-range fund raising strategies to meet current and future needs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    Bachelor degree is required.

     

    Experience:

    Six (6) years of experience in fund raising, public relations, or alumni relations is required.

     

    Preferred:

    Preferred experience fundraising for the basic sciences and research.
