Position Details

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, private university seeking to fill the position of Director for DEI Operation and Programs. This position reports to the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer. The Director works with students, staff, and faculty to develop and lead strategies, programs, and initiatives that support UT community members' retention, persistence, and success. Specific responsibilities include developing and implementing DEI training opportunities and coordinating services and resources for historically underrepresented populations. Additionally, the Director will support the development of DEI infrastructure and capacity across the institution and assist with DEI compliance and communication needs aligned with the institution's mission, vision, and goals.

Responsibilities 

●    Develop and implement a comprehensive DEI educational strategy available to all UT community members and aligned with the institution's motif of “learning while doing.” This strategy will include an intergenerational dialogic experience for faculty, staff, and students that promotes collaboration and shared experiences that improve cultural fluency.
●    Provide support and coaching to various departments, leaders, and programs on issues of retention and success for historically underrepresented populations. 
●    Lead the UT Bias Education Resource Team and collaborate campus-wide to assess, educate, and eradicate campus trends misaligned with the institution's commitment to inclusion. 
●    Design and develop resources, programs, and structures that support recruiting and retaining staff and faculty from diverse identities. 
●    Participate in the Spartan Inclusion Team (the diversity strategic planning team).
●    Chair the campus-wide MLK planning committee.  
●    Assist with various Offices of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, including, but not limited to, DEI Signature Programs, History and Heritage Month, Title IX, Spartan Alliance Program, student retention and Success initiatives, student organization advising, and more. 
●    Support with oversight of budgeting, professional staff supervision, annual reporting, strategic planning, program evaluation, and team building within the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (ODEI). 
●    Serve on the ODEI leadership team.  
●    Represent ODEI on institutional committees regarding a broad range of topics.

●    Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.


Qualifications
●    Master's degree in higher education or related discipline required (terminal degree preferred).
●    A minimum of 7 years of full-time, relevant higher education experience with progressive responsibility, scope, and leadership growth is required.
●    A Minimum of 3-5 years of direct people management experience 
●    Demonstrated understanding of DEI development theories, Identity development models, and a community-centered approach to DEI.
●    Experience in policy implementation, inclusive communication, and data-informed practices.
●    Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational communication.
●    Knowledge of federal regulation related to the work of DEI and compliance.
●    Working knowledge of data analysis tools, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office.  

●   Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and other programs.
●    Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule
 Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
 Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
 Flexible hours are required to support evening and weekend events.
