Director, Creative Strategy for Duke University Heath System 

**This position is hybrid with onsite work required at a minimum of once per week (on Thursdays).**

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing, the Creative Strategy Director will bring a mix of design, marketing expertise and strategy to the role to keep the Duke Health brand relevant to today’s healthcare consumer. The director is responsible for leading the work of the brand team in producing campaign advertising and collateral for internal communications and marketing. In addition, the director is responsible for maintaining and evolving the visual identity of Duke Health, monitoring brand compliance and leading internal teams and external agencies to support brand messaging and campaigns.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

•    With department leadership, facilitate and lead development of brand advertising strategy to increase top of mind awareness for the Duke Health clinical enterprise.
•    Participate in and incorporate consumer research into brand and creative strategy, ensuring our work is always motivating and compelling to the target audience.
•    Lead creative brief development for brand and advertising campaigns taking research, information and insights collected from key stakeholders and distilling them down into a strategic idea for creative teams to operate from.
•    Guide creative concepting and development throughout the process, ensuring that creative executions are on strategy, optimized for each channel and drive the brand forward.
•    Produce innovative work that helps differentiate Duke in the market and communicate our unique selling proposition in a compelling way.
•    Lead digital design development including website, email marketing and digital advertising applications
•    Lead the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives.
•    Build a network of Duke-approved vendors to increase capacity for creative services. Match internal stakeholders with external resources based on best fit for needs, timeline and budget.
•    Manage visual identity of Duke Health by maintaining and evolving brand standards, overseeing the brand management website and templates and overseeing the process to review creative materials to ensure brand compliance.
•    Manage agency partners, consultants, freelancers and other vendors, including contract negotiation and budget.
•    Manage a team of marketing specialists and graphic designers in delivering quick turnaround design requests as well as brand strategy, campaigns, creative and visual identity.
•    Work collaboratively with all areas of marketing & communications to maximize effectiveness of brand marketing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, business or a related field is required.  

Experience: Four to seven years of related experience in marketing or advertising with demonstrated experience in campaign development. Experience with website, email and digital advertising preferred. Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills a must. Must be highly organized and show attention to detail. Ability to inspire confidence, earn trust and collaborate in a way that builds relationships.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education

A bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, marketing, communications or a related field is required.


Experience
Five years of directly related experience is required.
Experienced in the development, execution, and measurement of multi-dimensional strategic marketing initiatives. Key experience includes working with all levels of organizational leadership in the adoption of plans and tactics, and making plan course corrections as needed based on emerging information or market evolution. Experience with emerging marketing tools (i.e. social media and customer relationship marketing) strongly preferred.
