Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some after hours.


Job Summary: The Director of College Communications provides visionary leadership and strategic and creative direction for all communication efforts and activities within the college in accordance with University guidelines. Collaborates with members of the College to ensure consistent, coordinated, timely, and integrated messaging in all communication pieces and websites. Leads communications team in the development and distribution of communication and marketing materials utilizing a diverse array of platforms and initiatives.


Additional Department Summary: Promotes and enhances the College of Communication & Information Sciences' image as a premier institution through strategic communication initiatives. Develops and executes internal communication and public relations strategies. Assists with developing media and stakeholder relationships. Supports advancement and fundraising efforts. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other university units to advance the college's mission and goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a strategic communicator to play a vital role in shaping the image and reputation of the College of Communication and Information Sciences. Contributes to the college's continued success by implementing innovative communication strategies and fostering meaningful engagement with key stakeholders.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience; OR master's degree and four (4) years of journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Experience managing and leading communication professionals. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of higher education environments and fundraising principles.
