Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director, Clinical Research Operations within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Director of Clinical Research Operations is to provide day-to-day business administrative leadership and clinical management of assigned areas through skillful directing, coaching, support and delegation to research staff in the provision of clinically safe, fiscally sound, compassionate care and services. Facilitates change. Oversees all aspects of clinical research operations at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Assures that all clinical research conducted within the Cancer Institute is according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines as well as applicable Institutional, State and Federal regulations and guidelines.
Areas of responsibility include: Research Nursing Services, Clinical Research Coordinator Services, Data Management Services, and Clinical Trial Lab Services
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Works collaboratively with the Associate Director of Clinical Research and Institutional Training to implement professional development and orientation initiatives for clinical research staff. a. Participates as expert educator (similar to faculty) for nursing and patient education programs. b. Establishes education priorities as they relate to research training.
  • Attends Training Programs, Modules, workshop, and seminars sponsored by the Office of Human Research Service; disease specific DSG meetings; and meetings with the Principal Investigator, when directed by supervisor, to keep up-to-date on project objectives.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers regulations, law and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Maintains working knowledge of DHHS, FDA, OHRP, NIH, GCP, HIPPA, IRB and other applicable guidelines. Reviews all applicable guidelines and incorporates information into daily workplace.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in scientific academic health care, preferably in oncology.
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience required
  • Demonstrated experience leading clinical research operations in a complex organization, including interfacing effectively with multiple faculty and staff with a strong customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and apply broad concepts in practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the institution. 
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to present, facilitate, negotiate, and interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing environment is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience implementing large organizational initiatives preferred.
