Job Summary

The Director of the Cecilia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center. oversees the work of the Clinical Experiences & Licensure Processes (CELP) unit, assists in the operation of the Council for Teacher Education, oversees partnership efforts with university and school partners, oversees teacher education accreditation, and performs other duties as mutually agreed upon.

The University is the second largest teacher preparation institution in the nation (2021 Title II Reports). Nearly one in six Illinois public school teachers is an alum of Illinois State.

The Cecilia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center houses the office of Clinical Experiences and Licensure Processes and serves over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate teacher education students from the 27 educator preparation programs across campus. Primary focuses include PK-12 partnerships, student teaching placements, Illinois State student gateway requirements, clinical experiences, educational data and ISBE licensure requirements.


Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package


Required Qualifications

1. Terminal degree
2. Experience as a non-tenure track or tenure track/tenured faculty member from a teacher education program
3. 3+ years teaching experience in PK-12 Schools
4. Understanding of state and national teacher education accreditation systems
5. High level of written and oral communication proficiency
6. Experience working successfully with shared governance bodies in higher education connected to teacher education programs


Work Hours

Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate


Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Distinguish colors on a monitor
3. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
4. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
