Job Description Summary | The search will remain open until the position has been filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by April 5, 2024. Applications received after April 5, 2024, may be reviewed depending on search progress and needs, but are not guaranteed full consideration. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for all business functions of the College, including budget and finances (all sources of funds). Support the Dean and Chief Business Officer in the appropriate generation and use of College resources. Establish business procedures for the College and oversee their implementation by all College departments. Promote and encourage adherence to prescribed federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures by College and departmental staff. |
Duties and Responsibilities | ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor and supervise routine business functions for Arts and Sciences departments. Coordinate & oversee all summer recontracting within the College. Manage CAS online program budgets, track revenue in coordination with URI Online, and manage CAS revenue share program. Assist Chief Business Officer with the administration and expenditure of all CAS funds and generate various reports. Support Chief Business Officer in short- and long-term forecasting for decision making. Assist in strategic planning and preparation of the annual College budget. Administer operating, student help, capital, travel, and overhead accounts for the College. Assist with the determination of departmental budgets. Monitor the budgets and expenditures of Federal, State, private and other contract funding. In consultation with the Chief Business Officer, develop & process personnel transactions. Represent the Dean’s Office in conducting CAS business with relevant University offices including but not limited to: Controller, Purchasing, Financial Planning and Strategy, Provost, and Human Resources. Attend weekly meetings of the College leadership team with Dean, Chief Business Officer, Associate Deans, and Assistant Deans. Advise and assist departmental chairs and College admins in a variety of matters pertaining to their human resource, fiscal and administrative affairs. Oversee the supervision, hiring and training of departmental administrative staff. Work collaboratively with other business managers on funding for joint positions and initiatives. Provide support to Academic Affairs in ensuring compliance by College and departmental staff with prescribed federal, state, ·and institutional policies and procedures, including adherence to generally accepted accounting principles in business/fiscal transactions. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Chief Business Officer with Arts & Sciences human resource management. Oversee and exercise fiscal responsibility for college grants and contracts. Oversee purchases for the College (Office of the Dean). Perform other duties as required. Required Qualifications | REQUIRED: 1. Bachelor’s degree in business, management or related field. 2. Minimum five years of experience in financial management role in a complex organization. 3. Demonstrated experience with purchasing, accounting and/or fiscal procedures. 4. Demonstrated familiarity with academic administrative procedures. 5. Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team. 6. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 7. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills. 8. Demonstrated organizational skills. 9. Demonstrated supervisory experience. 10. Demonstrated presentation skills. 11. Demonstrated ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations and communicate the interpretation to others. 12. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations. |
