Position Summary:
The Director, Athletics Strategy and Finance is responsible for performing several business functions including processing, reporting, and analyzing financial data; identifying business process improvements and efficiencies
All duties must be carried out in compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists in preparation and management of the overall intercollegiate financial operating plan including monthly and quarterly reconciliation of revenues and expenses at the individual sport level as well as departmental level.
  • Develops, updates and maintains departmental business operations and budget policies and procedures manual. Assists the Director of Athletics and senior associate director of athletics with financial strategies, strategic planning, and other key internal operations initiatives.
  • Support Director of Athletics and senior associate director of athletics with overall strategic initiatives, including revenue opportunities, legislation and NCAA reform strategy (example: Name, Image and Likeness) and resource allocation.
  • Approves, verifies and provides oversight on the processing of all financial transactions for the Athletics Department including the review of revenues, disbursements, reconciliations and other financial analyses. Serving as primary point of contact on Budget/Finance team for designation of incoming revenues/gifts for future costs (i.e., designating incoming fundraising dollars for future initiatives such as a capital project or foreign tour).
  • Serve as the internal liaison with campus budget & controller, and procurement card and audit departments for all athletics’ business operations
  • Coordinate all of the department’s university purchasing cards and expense reports and the processes involved with reporting and management in regards to processing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain confidential records and files essential to office operations
  • Provides leadership and supervision for game day events and special projects as assigned
  • Evaluate best practices and maximize system functionality to support analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Senior Associate Director of Athletics
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field or related experience.

Specific Job Knowledge:
  • General knowledge of accounting practices and principles.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access), Banner System, Concur, and Bank of America Works system is preferred.

Minimum Work Experience:
  • 5 years in intercollegiate athletics department or accounting/finance.

Work Skills:
  • Must have the ability to remain organized and multitask to work in a fast-paced office environment.

Equipment Knowledge:
  • General office equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of NCAA bylaws, legislation and regulations preferred.
