The Opportunity:

As the Director for Talent Management you will oversee the overall strategic direction, planning, coordination, administration, and evaluation of the personnel functions for WSU Advancement, which has more than 140 staff in various locations across the United States with most residing in the state of Washington. You will be responsible for developing and ensuring effective implementation of plans, systems, policies, and processes for workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, legal compliance and recordkeeping, employee relations, performance management, and the WSU Foundation and Alumni Association personnel operations. This position will require you to be a true strategic business partner that is collaborative and capable of building consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes and representing WSU Advancement to internal and external constituents.

The preferred work location for this position is the Town Centre in Pullman, WA, however the position may be eligible for a hybrid/remote schedule to be discussed if contacted for interview.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.

  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience partnering directly with senior leadership to develop, align, and implement talent management and organizational development strategies.

  • Experience supervising and developing talent management staff.

  • Experience working with or leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion groups or initiatives.

  • Working knowledge of employment laws and other compliance issues.

  • Expertise in analysis, critical decision-making, project management, and process improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations.

  • Demonstrated experience managing the candidate process, orchestrating a positive candidate experience throughout.

  • Experience in delivering formal and informal trainings to a diverse workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong business acumen and leadership abilities.

  • Ability to provide thoughtful, progressive, and strategic guidance.

  • Ability to listen and probe to understand underlying needs and/or the root cause of an issue.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.

  • Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve desired organizational outcomes.

  • Outstanding judgment, sensitivity and high discretion.

  • Experience working in an Advancement department or foundation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR system applications.

  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic projects.

  • HRCI and/or SHRM Certification required or attained within one (1) year of hire.

Monthly Salary: $8,338.26 - $13,319.56 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
