Job Description:

The mission of Clark University's Mosakowski Institute for Public Enterprise (MIPE) is to innovate in the creation and delivery of behavioral health services responsive to the needs of adolescents, young adults and their families.

MIPE is re-imagining an integrated behavioral health system for all adolescents and young adults that will: provide adolescents and young adults with high quality, evidence based culturally relevant behavioral health services; equip youth, families and educators with accurate information on mental health diagnoses and the behavioral health services and resources available in their region; support behavioral health practitioners by developing and delivering digital Social-Emotional Learning and behavioral health interventions that foster resiliency in youth; build capacity of educators and practitioners by offering online certification programs so they can provide state-of-the-art Social-Emotional Learning interventions; collaborate with others to maximize the reach and impact of our behavioral health care model for adolescents and young adults; and conduct cutting edge research to advance new evidence and learning about meeting the behavioral health needs of adolescents and young adults, particularly young men of color.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director School Mental Health Resource Center will work closely with the Director of Behavioral Health Initiatives and the Director of Translational Research to turn evidenced-base research, data and customer experiences into new solutions that address behavioral health gaps in schools (prevention, first presentation and assessment) to reduce downstream issues in school or in the workplace.

The Director School Mental Health Resource Center will lead a high-performance, agile based team that will establish Clark University as the premier higher education institution for school mental health workforce development.

  • Build and lead a resource center at MIPE that enhances the capacity of behavioral health professionals in K12 settings in the region, across the nation, and around the world to efficiently and effectively provide students with behavioral health supports.
  • Develop and offer online and in-person training and professional development for behavioral health and education professionals regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Develop and disseminate evidence-based school mental health resources.
  • Consult with schools and contribute to program evaluations.
  • Support MIPE to secure external funding through grants, contracts, and gifts.
  • Build partnerships and collaborations with schools, behavioral health providers and supports in the communities served to develop a high-quality network of behavioral health providers and help improve their quality and accessibility over time.
  • Advocate for best practices in school mental health broadly in multiple forums with all levels of local, state, and federal policy-making officials; behavioral health organizations and professionals; online websites, peer reviewed journals, professional meetings, community forums, etc.
  • Promote an integrated system of behavioral healthcare by helping to establish frameworks, engagement platforms, and communication methods.
  • Develop a partnership with the National Center for School Mental Health and other relevant professional organizations.
  • Contribute to publications on school mental health and tech-enabled services in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Give presentations and organize events at national and international academic and professional conferences

Product and Services Development, Promotion, and Support

  • Conceive of and contribute to the development of programs, products and services that improve youth social-emotional and mental health and behavioral health interventions and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with others to maximize the reach and impact of best practice in comprehensive school mental health and MIPE's behavioral health care model for adolescents and young adults.
  • Collaborate with MIPE Director of Translational Research and the MIPE Director of Business Development and Innovation to develop behavioral health programs and interventions that can be scaled and marketed.
  • Support MIPE's ability to fill gaps in behavioral health including mental health and SEL training for educators, parents, and professionals.

Service to Clark University

  • Provide guest lectures, presentations, and courses on youth and school mental health.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of graduate-level professional training in school and youth mental health services.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Graduate and Professional Programs at Clark University to develop online certificate programs and course offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Division of Health & Wellness to provide evidence-based training as support to campus psychologists and clinicians.
  • Help MIPE to evolve and grow as an effective and sustainable organization to continuously support and meet the behavioral health needs of adolescents and young adults, particularly young men of color.


Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of senior management and leadership experience. Master's degree in relevant field required.
  • Proven track record of developing and facilitating training and courses in school mental health.
  • Prior experience in leading state-wide comprehensive school mental health initiatives.
  • Previous portfolio and project management experience in school mental health.
  • Strategic thinker, demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead and supervise behavioral health professionals in K12 or higher ed settings.
  • Seeks alternatives, experimenter, risk taker.
  • Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents on campus
