Job Summary
Bowdoin College is located in Brunswick Maine with a student population of almost 2000. We make everything from scratch and consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop and organic garden that all supply food to our 2 dining halls and 3 retail locations.
The Dining Service Business Manager is responsible for administrative support to the dining service department including:
  • Office staff supervision
  • Overseeing accounting functions
  • Income distribution
  • Student board plans and board access equipment
  • Providing financial reporting and analysis, and monitoring and documenting business process.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to problem solve and think critically while working independently and as a member of the team.

  • The salary range for this position is expected to be: Minimum $65,000- Maximum $70,000

Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
  • Associate’s Degree with concentration in accounting or business administration.
  • Business accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable, cash management, inventory management and double-entry accounting.
  • Financial analysis of small business operations, preferably some experience with food service operations.
  • Internal control systems.
  • Personal coaching and team building techniques.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong computer skills.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting or business administration.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
  • 1-3 years experience in office setting.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Effectively handle short-term and long-range problems and work through solutions.
  • Meet prescribed deadlines through personal and team organization.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Lead, motivate and train staff and/or students.
  • This position will require a criminal background and credit check as part of the pre-employment process.
Standard Work Days and Hours
  • Generally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some schedule flexibility.
  • May be required to work weekends and overtime during major college events.
  • This is a full-time, year-round position working 40 hours/52 week (1.00 FTE).
