Reporting to the Digitization Coordinator, the Digitization Specialist plays a crucial role in the digitization and preservation of physical materials in the university's scholarly and archival collections. The Digitization Specialist follows best practices in library digital collections and supports the Libraries scanning and digital photography operations, particularly still image digitization, including but not limited to archival materials in a variety of formats, such as bound volumes, photographs and transparencies, manuscripts, and oversize items. The primary focus of this role is to convert analog resources into digital formats while ensuring the integrity and accessibility of these digital assets. This position supports access to KU's unique and interesting holdings in a wide range of topics by the KU community, students, researchers, and the world through digitization for KU's digital repositories, exhibits, and patron requests.
KU's excellence is a result of the rich tapestry of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds of our faculty, staff, students, and colleagues from across our nation and the globe. At KU we invest in continuous learning and growth by creating a climate where people engage in respectful dialogue and debate and support each other's success. We foster a culture of care where each person is seen, heard and valued. When people feel a true sense of belonging, we believe they are better able to reach their full potential and achieve remarkable things.
