This position is expected to begin Fall 2024 and will be a part of large cohort of new faculty joining the Bellevue College Community. 

Bellevue College seeks a dedicated full-time tenure-track faculty member for its Digital Media Arts (DMA) program, responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across various DMA disciplines such as Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, UX/UI Design, Game Design, 3D Art & Design, and Video Production. This role encompasses more than teaching; it includes curriculum development, academic advising, mentorship, and active participation in college governance, potentially extending to program chair responsibilities. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree, possess experience in diverse educational settings, and demonstrate a commitment to addressing equity gaps within the Digital Media Arts field. Proficiency in multiple DMA disciplines, coupled with experience in online and hybrid teaching environments and a track record in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, will be highly valued. This position represents an opportunity to significantly impact students' educational journeys and contribute to the advancement of Bellevue College's DMA program.

The selected candidate will perform duties and functions under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and will be directly responsible to the Division Dean of the School of Business & Technology. Full-time faculty teach in face-to-face settings and synchronous and asynchronous virtual settings, and are expected to deliver in-person classes or a combination of in-person and virtual classes.

Position Salary Range: $77,250.30/year - $108,344.14/year

Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $77,250.30; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $82,831.36 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, full-time faculty maintains office hours and participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

The Digital Media Arts (DMA) program offers an Associate’s degree featuring student-selected concentrations. Students are prepared for entry-level positions in graphic design, game design, 3D art and design, video/film, UX/UI design, and motion graphics.   • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in teaching and/or mentoring in diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Dedication to increasing inclusivity and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students with intentional curriculum and instruction design.¿
  • Advanced skills in at least three of the following areas: Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, UX/UI, Game Design, 3D Art & Design, Video Production, Storytelling, or Project Management.
  • Evidence of understanding the equity gaps within the Digital Media Arts discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from varied ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.
  • Awareness of current industry trends in the digital media arts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach in traditional, hybrid and fully online environments. 
  • Record of active contribution to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, whether through teaching, professional service, or community engagement.
  • Experience with culturally responsive pedagogy and practice in teaching.
  • Evidence addressing equity gaps within the Digital Media Arts discipline.
  • Previous leadership experience in an academic or professional setting, such as serving as a program chair, department head, team lead, or other significant leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated willingness and readiness to assume leadership roles within the program and the institution, including but not limited to program chair responsibilities, committee chairmanship, or leading special project teams.
