Digital Lab Technician

As the lab technician, you are responsible for maintaining usage statistics on equipment and lab usage; training student employees on safety operations; and ensuring the lab’s policies, procedures, and workflow are being met. In this position you will schedule and conduct demos and tours of the lab, meet with the rapid prototyping operations manager daily, communicate with and assist students and faculty, and provide data to technicians required to successfully produce the project.

As the technician you will ensure billing is done accurately and that paperwork is processed in a timely manner, conduct inventory, and proactively process jobs and provide solutions to project issues. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing equipment, ensuring the lab is safe and functional, and safely demonstrating the correct usage of the lab’s equipment. Additionally, you may be required to participate in the university’s special projects. 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience
  • Familiarity with digital technology equipment, techniques, and safety procedures 
  • Proficiency in Rhinoceros, Solid Works, Illustrator, or similar programs 
  • Knowledge of maintenance and safety for specialized equipment 
  • Must be detail-oriented and can work with minimal supervision 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Mechanical and/or electrical knowledge 
  • Finishing skills and experience in an academic environment 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
