Job Details
The Digital Editor will work closely on the digital translations and media of two student-driven publications, Tempo (features magazine) and Archarios (literary and art magazine). The management for these publications falls under The Athenaeum Press, the student-driven publishing lab at Coastal Carolina University.
General Requirements
  • Maintain a minimum of seven (7) scheduled office hours per week with other publication paid staff members
  • Develops and implements ideas for the expansion of publications and Athenaeum Press
  • Attends all training and development sessions, including applicable conferences
  • Represent the Press and respective projects at external events

Publication Workflow
  • Attends weekly staff meetings for Tempo and Archarios
  • Meets and coordinates with Press director and Advisers on digital platform
  • Plans and coordinates implementation of digital workflow
  • Cooperates with each publication to update and develop content for all workflow
  • Assists in editing both Tempo and Archarios
  • Responsible for making design decisions in translation to the digital platform
  • Ensures that all graphics and media are web-optimized according to best practices
  • Ensures that all graphics and media are optimized for social media distribution
  • Coordinates editorial, design, layout, and production schedules for digital publications

Leadership and Planning
  • Meets regularly with adviser(s)
  • Maintains control over costs and creates budge for digital content
  • Assists in submitting magazine entries to applicable contests

Required Qualifications
  • Must have and maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be a full-time student (minimum of 12 semester hours) and not on academic or disciplinary probation
  • Must complete seminars held by Athenaeum Press staff prior to start of work
  • Must be available for weekly all-staff meetings

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with a content management system, social media production, and/or digital publication. Experience working collaboratively with content and visual teams.
