UVU’s Institutional Advancement Division (fundraising area of the university) is in search of an organized, innovative, creative, detail-oriented individual to serve as a Digital Content Specialist. This position will help lead the digital writing and messaging for both internal and external audiences of the Institutional Advancement division. They will interact with both students and donors to tell the full story of how together education is being pursued and success attained. 


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conducts research, writes, builds, updates, and maintains digital content for a myriad of audiences including faculty, staff, student, donor, and community members. Actively seeks out stories and creates blogs, content, student stories, and profiles to help promote and raise funds for the university and its various academic units, departments, divisions, and centers. 
  • Engages with web, SEO, digital media, and social media content to ensure alignment and that the information is valuable and engaging for a variety of audiences. Conducts keyword research and SEO guidelines to increase content performance and web traffic. Notes key takeaways from content to promote on social media posts and in newsletters. 
  • Assists in the creation and publishing of digital content across various internal and external mediums. Working closely with the Alumni, Strategic Engagement, and Development Team in the creation and publishing of digital assets, specifically social media assets. Tracks and records mentions of the division and its key donors and influencers. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of and experience with the basic tenets of marketing and journalism. 
  • Knowledge and experience with project management within a professional design/production setting. Knowledge of public fundraising techniques, strategies, and best practices. 
  • Knowledge of customer service and professional ethics. 
  • Knowledge of web-based resources, including social media and SEO.
Skills:
  • Skill in creating professional business correspondence, marketing materials, and reports. 
  • Skill in writing, editing, and proofreading. 
  • Skill using Adobe Creative Cloud and content management systems. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Excellent writing, language, and editing skills. 
  • Communicate clearly and exercise effective interpersonal, problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making skills where a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Abilities:
  • Ability to gather and synthesize various types of information. 
  • Ability to resolve problems by thinking logically, identifying tasks, and developing modular programming steps. 
  • Ability to follow directions and work under supervision. 
  • Ability to keep current with industry standards and trends by attending training and conferences; reading technical material; and corresponding with other professionals using listservs, networks, and bulletin boards. 
  • Ability to adhere to university web standards, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced and diverse workplace environment with rapidly shifting priorities and deadlines. 
  • Ability to effectively manage time to complete tasks on schedule.
