About the Department

The Mission of The College of Engineering and Applied Science is to provide a world-class educational experience of engineering, computing, and applied sciences from undergraduate through doctoral levels. CEAS is looking to expand the frontiers of knowledge and disseminate this information to the scientific community, industry, government, and the general public. CEAS is also looking to foster partnerships with industry, the broader educational community, and local, state, and federal governments to expand access and diversity.


Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science aims to highlight the success and experience of its students, faculty and staff with this role on the marketing communications team. The Digital Content Specialist will utilize skills as a content creator and writer to support the digital marketing and communication initiatives at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science, including social media content creation, monitoring engagement with target audiences, and writing feature and news articles.

 


Essential Functions
  • Create content for distribution across multiple channels, including websites, marketing collateral and social media.
  • Create social media content, both written and photo/video, within brand, university, and department guidelines and messaging.
  • Pursue leads, conduct interviews, and perform research to write news articles, features, and press releases – geared toward a general audience – on the research and experiences of UC College of Engineering and Applied Science faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist with other storytelling and promotional efforts.
  • Develop and execute social media strategy and calendar to meet goals of the college.
  • Monitor engagement and assess college’s analytics, utilizing and reporting data to provide guidance for marketing and communication initiatives.
  • Help maintain internal and external websites, producing accessible digital content in compliance with sections 504 and 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience
  • One (1) year of experience related to content creation, web content management, social media management, or marketing communications.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

  • Demonstrated ability to create effective social media content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Interest and/or experience in writing and learning about science, technology, and/or engineering.

  • Ability to master digital tools and platforms used for content creation and publication.
  • Ability to work effectively with visual content.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Highly developed attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
