What we Want

The Communications Specialist II is responsible for project management, campaign management, content management, and writing.

What you need to know
Salary range: $46,900 - $58,000/year (Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communication or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of experience in communications, digital marketing, or marketing & communications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to work in marketing for email marketing, print materials, writing, social media management, web content management, publications, and campaigns.

  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and effectively. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to make presentations of ideas.

  • Strong initiative, commitment to lifelong learning, and willingness to ask questions.

  • Ability to bring fresh ideas, individual voice, and enthusiasm to the team.

  • Ability to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Marketing.

  • 5 years of experience working as a communication coordinator, communication specialist, or working in a similar role in marketing.

  • Outstanding verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively plan and execute short and long-term projects that make efficient use of resources, meet deadlines, achieve objectives, and maintain morale among staff through the process.

  • Photo editing theory, software, hardware, and practical knowledge.

  • Ability to seek out best practices and trends among peer institutions to deliver creative insights and applications to the team.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Project Management - Works on request to assess needs, create a plan, communicate the plan, assign resources, communicate changes, finalize the project and manage the post launch of the project.

  • Writing - Mays Business School has several social media channels, email marketing platforms, a website and a variety of ways to share the school and it’s programs message. This role will need to be able to review grammar, write, and edit copy.

  • Digital Communications Support - Learns software systems, works in those systems, and deploys projects in those systems. These systems are but are not limited to content management systems, Google Analytics, project management system, website content systems, email marketing systems, and social media management systems.

  • Digital Asset Management - Assists in managing, uploading to, and maintaining the school’s digital asset management library.

  • Learning/Researching - Researches best practices to help maintain efficiencies. Keeping abreast of industry advancements and learning opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned.
