What we want

The Communications Specialist III in the Division of Marketing and Communications at Texas A&M University, supporting the Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy, under general supervision, provides digital platform and web content services and consultation to school departments and programs. Coordinates social media content for the school. Writes, edits, designs, and assists in the production of informational and promotional materials, presentations and special events.

What you need to know
Salary range: $40,712 - $52,312/Annually (Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience).

Position Details: Must be able to lift, move, and/or carry heavy camera equipment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Four years of communications-related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Demonstrated skill in writing and editing for electronic media and in website design, production and maintenance

  • Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of online marketing tactics and social media

  • Business writing, editing and proofreading skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations

  • Three years of experience in web writing, design and content management, or in social media strategy and execution, or in video editing and photography

  • Experience with maintaining a digital asset management system or project management system


  • Web and Digital Platform Content Management - Serves as the school digital content expert and manages content, digital media projects and web placement to maintain an innovative and dynamic online presence. Manages channels that include website, digital signage, social media, and digital calendar.

  • Social Media Coordination - Coordinates social media content for the school. Develops and executes and strategies to maintain the school’s presence and drive engagement across social media platforms.

  • Web Communications Strategy, Implementation, Monitoring and Analysis - Develops and executes strategies for web projects that promote the school’s brand on the internet. Supports and provides consultation to staff in departments and programs on how they can enhance their own content and web presence. Works to optimize the website for search engines, analyze web traffic and user behavior to develop marketing strategies, and regularly review, test and update links in external and internal websites.

  • Content Creation - Support the university’s communications effort by writing, editing and producing content and multimedia that showcase the school’s teaching, research and service, as well as activities of faculty and students. Writes, edits and produces digital brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters and reports. Assists in developing and implementing the overall departmental communications plan. Drafts news releases in coordination with the Director of Marketing & Communications. Prepares and coordinates publications with printers. Prepares presentations and displays.

  • Design, Branding and Events - Provides graphic design services on an as-needed basis. May assist with special events for the school. Assists in planning, implementing and promoting special events and programs.

  • Photography and Visual Media - Coordinates photo shoots and event coverage to showcase school activities and accomplishments of students, faculty and staff to media, main campus and through social media. Performs other related duties as assigned.
