Digital Communications Specialist Campus: Tempe (On-site) Job Description: The Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science (GDCS) and the Asner Lab are looking for a Digital Communications Specialist to join the team! As the Communications Specialist, you will use storytelling and digital marketing to represent both the Center and the Lab. During a typical week, the specialist’s time will be spent on the Asner Lab (25%), Allen Coral Atlas (70%), and GDCS (5%). As one of nine labs at GDCS, the Asner Lab leads five global programs focusing on earth observation to improve climate action and ecosystem management. One of the global programs, the Allen Coral Atlas, is an open-source data platform that provides users with actionable data about coral reefs. Salary Range: $46,000 - $52,000 per year; DOE Close Date: 04-October-2022 Essential Duties: The communications specialist will have knowledge of marketing practices, social media strategy, and graphic design. The communications specialist must be skilled in effective communication, both verbal and written. And the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with disparate stakeholders from partner institutions, and with changing priorities and tight deadlines. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: -Develop and execute social media strategies adhering to Center, Lab, and Allen Coral Atlas voice and tone. -Manage and update Center, Asner Lab, and Allen Coral Atlas website content -Manage social media calendar and content researching trends and innovations in digital marketing -Generate performance reports analyzing social media and Web analytics -Write press releases and other media needs as directed -Maintain Asner Lab digital library -Lead communications reporting and inter-agency interactions for the Allen Coral Atlas, as directed by leadership -Support development of presentations and public-facing material to accurately represent the Allen Coral Atlas brand. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and two (2) years of related experience: OR, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Demonstrated experience in writing and editing online content. Desired Qualifications: -Experience in scientific writing -Experience with Wordpress, Mailchimp, and Canvas. -Experience with writing press releases. Working Environment: Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
