Berkeley College seeks a technically savvy, service-oriented and collaborative professional to serve as the Digital Services and E-Resources Librarian. The Digital Services and E-Resources Librarian :  

·         Manages all aspects of digital, electronic, and remote library services;

·         Supports ongoing assessment, enhancement, and innovation of technologies and electronic services;  

·         Delivers onsite and online research and instructional support to the campus community;

·         Works collaboratively with the librarians, faculty, and academic leadership to provide a comprehensive academic library experience; and  

·         Oversees the operations of a campus library, including schedules, staffing, and services. 

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Library, the key responsibilities of the Digital Services and E-Resources Librarian are:   

·         Conducts and reports on the continuous analysis of usage data and other assessment tools that evaluate the impact and effectiveness of digital library services and electronic resources. 

·         Works with database and resource providers, including negotiating contracts, resolving access issues, arranging trials of requested resources, and managing budgets and billing.   

·         Participates in assessment strategies that track and report on the use, usability, overlap and value that inform electronic resources management decisions and working with faculty, libraries, and administration to identify and provide access to resources that support student success. 

·         Ensures seamless, uninterrupted access and timely resolutions of connectivity issues and assessment through the application of technical skills to troubleshoot link resolvers, proxy services, and discovery services. 

·         Participates in the provision of research and instructional services to students, faculty, staff, and alumni through embedded course work, programs, workshops, and one-on-one research consultations using appropriate technologies. 

·         Works collaboratively with all library units, CCIT, faculty, Information Systems, and others as appropriate for the successful exploration and integration of new and emerging technology initiatives.  

·         Oversees an on-site campus library location, which includes staffing, schedules, hiring, and supervision of library staff and services.  

·         Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Library, and/or Associate Provost.  

Job Qualifications: 

·         Master’s Degree from an ALA-accredited library school or other relevant accredited as identified by ALA’s Human Resources Development and Recruitment Office.  

·         Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in providing online research, instruction, and support services. 

·         At least 3-5 years' experience managing a library’s electronic sources, databases, electronic book delivery platforms, learning management system, library automation software, and other relevant technologies used to manage and deliver digital library services.  

Experience Preferred:  

·         Experience with practical knowledge of computing hardware, software, operating systems, mobile devices, access services and networking technologies. 

·         Experience with TLS and Ebsco Discovery Systems, Springshare Suite and EZ Proxy. 

·         Experience with licensing agreements, contracts negotiation, vendor management, demand-driven acquisitions, interlibrary loan, copyright, and fair use. 

This position will sit in New York or New Jersey.
