DIALYSIS / PHERESIS TECHNICIAN (PER DIEM, ROTATING/VARIABLE SHIFTS)

The UW MEDICAL CENTER - MONTLAKE - KIDNEY DIALYSIS/PHERESIS DEPARTMENT has an outstanding opportunity for a PER DIEM DIALYSIS/PHERESIS TECHNICIAN (Rotating/Variable shifts). The Dialysis/Pheresis Technician prepares, assembles, operates, and monitors equipment used for dialysis and pheresis treatments; prepares dialysis solutions and concentrates; and participates in quality control on dialysis equipment.

Primary duties include:

Provide front-line Dialysis and Pheresis services:
• Assemble, prepare, prime, and preset dialysis and pheresis equipment and materials in the dialysis lab and at patient bedside according to nephrology orders
• Maintain current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipment
• Reprocess and disinfect hemodialysis equipment per policy and procedure
• Aseptically dispense dialysis solution to include calculating, measuring pre-weight of dry chemicals, and verifying through chemical analysis for accuracy
• Make changes in dialysis composition by compounding any additions
• In coordination with RN, perform bedside plasmapheresis treatment
• Participate in on-call coverage rotation for urgent dialysis set-ups outside laboratory business hours

REQUIREMENTS:

An Associate's Degree with emphasis in chemistry, biology, or medical sciences AND two years of experience in a medical laboratory to include one year in a dialysis/pheresis laboratory at the level of Dialysis/Pheresis Technician Trainee OR equivalent education/experience.
