Diagnostic Ultrasound, Part time Faculty

The part-time instructor shall perform duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Program Chair and Program Director. As a part time adjunct instructor in the Diagnostic Ultrasound program, the individual is responsible for teaching, observing and evaluating in echo courses. Other responsibilities include participation in assessing student learning outcomes; developing, revising, and implementing curriculum; maintaining current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment and demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and fostering a positive, caring learning environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.

Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit lecture class is $5,716.52 - $6,968.62. Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program offers three distinct curricular tracks: adult cardiac, vascular and general (which includes the abdomen-extended and OB/GYN concentrations). Students declare their interest in a track upon admission to the program. This choice determines the classroom and lab courses required during the didactic portion of the program, and it shapes the placements during the clinical phase of the program.

  • Instructor for Adult Echocardiography courses.
  • Provides instruction, assignments, and evaluations of student learning.
  • Communicates regularly with students, both individually and in group settings such as weekly office hours.
  • Assesses student accomplishments relative to course learning outcomes and makes modifications as indicated by these assessments.
  • Fosters a positive and caring learning environment where diversity and pluralism are valued.
  • National credential in Adult Echocardiography.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Adult Echocardiography.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective teaching abilities.
  • Bachelor degree, ideally in a related field.
  • Formal experience teaching Adult Echocardiography.
  • Experience with ultrasound learners in the clinical setting.
