Primary Purpose: 

The Diagnostic Medical Physicist participates in the operations of the medical physics within UC Health.  This position requires core functions of clinical support, quality assurance, safety, research, and education, but also provides input and review, thereby ensuring the department achieves standards set by the AAPM, ACR, ODH, Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services, Joint Commission, or other standards bodies.     

 

The diagnostic medical physicist will be qualified as a Radiation Expert as defined in the Ohio Administrative Code and Kentucky Administrative Regulations and be capable of performing physics evaluations for at least diagnostic radiographic, CT, mammography x-ray machines, and shielding evaluations and area surveys for radiographic.

 

 

 

 

 




Qualifications

 

Knowledge and Skills
 
Education:  Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering or an accepted degree by ABR, minimum required.. PhD, preferred.
                                                                          
Years of Experience:  Minimum required.  of 0-6 months of equivalent..  

 

License and Certifications: 

 

DABR- preferred

Board Eligible- preferred 

Must be CRE credentialed by State of Ohio and Kentucky (or eligible for credentialing)
                                                                          
Required Skills and Knowledge:  Thorough knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, good English grammar skills and excellent keyboarding skills required.  Minimal typing speed of 50 wpm preferred.
