The Research Assistant Professor oversees a range of scientific projects, leading and managing them from inception to completion, ensuring they align with the University’s goals. This position involves both scientific and administrative responsibilities, including guiding and mentoring junior researchers, thereby fostering a collaborative environment. Proficiency is required in writing and reviewing scientific manuscripts, along with performing statistical analysis, interpreting research results, and handling the development and/or completion of scientific documents. This encompasses the creation, formatting, proofreading, editing, and finalization of these documents. The selected individual must have a strong background and experience in biostatistics to collaborate closely with tenured and tenure-track faculty to support grant and manuscript submissions that advance the research mission of the institution.

The Research Assistant Professor engages in academic activities, maintaining collaborations with other researchers. This position also requires ability to translate scientific reports into prose, either through written or oral methods, ensuring it is appropriate for the understanding level of the target audience.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS              

Designs, implements, and manages research projects, ensuring they align with the University's objectives and standards. Creates, implements, and maintains competitive application templates for grant proposals, reports, as well as scientific manuscripts.  Sets project goals, delegates tasks, and fosters a collaborative and productive research environment. Designs study methodologies, analyzes complex data, interprets results, ensuring statistical and scientific rigor for research studies and protocols. Reviews and ensures document language is scientifically/medically correct, responsive to the document requirements, consistent, and justifiable; notifies appropriate PI or leader and suggestion alternative language, as required. Formats substantive copy and scientific editing, proofreading, and finalizing documents as required and requested. Ensures readability, clarity, consistency, and conformance to applicable submissions requirements. Edits all extramurally funded proposals for grammar, readability, clarity, consistency, and conformance with all applicable requirements. Communicates (telephone, email, meetings) with key senior leadership authors as necessary to ensure the accuracy and clarity of documents; meets both internal and sponsor submission deadlines. Works in the development of scientific presentations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to length and time allowed for presentation. Ensures that documents conform with all applicable regulations, current guidelines, and policies; inform appropriate PI or director as required and suggest appropriate correction. Obtains and maintains the documentation for any required copyright transfers, conflict of interest statements, or other publisher-specific requirements. Tracks progress and responds to publication queries, as appropriate. Summarizes data from clinical studies for submission to appropriate governmental/regulatory agencies. Contributes to the academic community through teaching, workshops, seminars, and conferences. This may also include supervising thesis work and participating in curriculum development.  Engages in collaborative projects with other researchers, both within and outside the institution. This could include multi-disciplinary projects and international collaborations. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Ph.D degree or M.D/Ph.D.

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
