Job Title: Cloud Engineer
Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to join our university health system's IT team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure while also contributing to the overall technology transformation at Duke Health. Your expertise will help us meet the unique needs of our healthcare and academic environment, ensuring the availability, security, and performance of our cloud-based systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1.    Healthcare-Specific Implementation and Deployment: Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on Azure tailored to the unique needs of a healthcare and academic environment.
2.    Performance Management in a Healthcare Context: Monitor and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance for healthcare applications, identifying and resolving any Azure-related issues.
3.    Security and Compliance in Healthcare: Implement and maintain robust cloud security measures, ensuring data protection and compliance with healthcare-specific regulations, including HIPAA.
4.    Collaborative Support for Healthcare and Academic Needs: Work closely with various healthcare and academic teams to integrate cloud services into our IT infrastructure and support cloud-based applications.
5.    Continuous Improvement with a Healthcare Focus: Stay current with modern technology trends in cloud computing, specifically those beneficial to healthcare and education, suggesting improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
6.    Healthcare-Centric Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting complex cloud issues within the context of a healthcare environment.
7.    Troubleshoot complex infrastructure-related issues, both on and off-premise.
8.    Lead initiatives to improve processes through technologies like Infrastructure as Code, reducing time, cost, manual intervention, and complexity.
9.    Maintain a deep understanding of multiple technologies, reference architectures, and business applications.
10.    Experience in launching enterprise cloud-hosted platforms.
11.    Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and articulate the business value of technical solutions.
12.    Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, customers, and project teams.
Qualifications:
1.    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, preferably with an understanding of healthcare IT systems.
2.    Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud computing, with a focus on Microsoft Azure, ideally in a healthcare or academic setting.
3.    Certifications: Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Developer Associate, Azure Administrator Associate) are highly desirable.
4.    Technical Skills: Proficiency in Azure IaaS and PaaS services, automation tools (like Azure DevOps), and scripting languages (such as PowerShell), with an understanding of healthcare IT requirements.
5.    Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail, especially in a healthcare context.
6.    Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare and academic environment.
7.    Experience with DevOps methodologies (Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery).
8.    Experience in advanced prototyping, augmented data science, and machine learning.
