What we want

Development Grant Writer will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and Development Business Coordinator to assist with grant proposal development, grant writing, and stewardship. They will manage and track the grant proposal process and provide regular updates to development staff. They will also prepare, write , and edit grant proposal submissions in accordance with industry and/or foundation requirements. Finally, they will document and regularly update the development process and stewardship activities in the Foundation's Customer Relationship Management software.If the description sounds interesting to you, we invite you to apply to be considered for this opportunity.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience with grant proposals and/or donor activities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant administration and grant writing skills.
  • Ability to read and understand complex application documents.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of TAMU, TAMF and the school of PVFA.
  • Ability to maintain security of confidential records and information.
  • Knowledge of Excel and MS Office software applications.
  • Must have strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure compliance with complex reporting and agreement specifics.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.
  • Ensures that work products conform to the formatting and internal/external policy/regulatory requirements, are free of errors, and those scientific ideas are presented clearly, accurately, and persuasively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of SalesForce or Ascend. 
  • Prior grant writing experience and a working knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Grant Proposal: Assists in corporate proposals & foundation grants and assists in managing the grant development process; Creates production calendars and timelines, identifies key activities, for grant proposal development in collaboration with the development team. Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of Texas A&M University (TAMU), Texas A&M Foundation (TAMF), and the School of Performance, Visualization, and Fine Arts (PVFA) donors.

  • Grant Writing: Prepares, writes, and edits grant and proposal submissions to public/private foundations and industry and ensures compliance for such; assembles all pertinent grant material packages for final submission; ensures overall accuracy and quality of all grant submission documents leaving the organization; works with the Director of Development to coordinate the completion and submission of required follow-up reports, and updates and maintains the grants.

  • Stewardship: Utilize Foundation’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) fundraising software to assist the School of PVFA with entry and documentation of development and stewardship activities. Oversees and coordinates all development activities including donor recognition activities, cultivation events, and donor communications. Assists in the preparation of donor gifts agreements and proposals. Oversees incoming donation process including deposits. Orchestrates the effective deployment of critical supporting efforts to enhance development operations utilizing TAMF resources in donor engagement, marketing & communications, accounting and gift processing, discovery programs, and strategic planning. Stays informed and familiar with TAMF, TAMU and the school of PVFA policies regarding gift receipting, reporting and accounting practices. Creates, obtains, and keeps track of recognition awards for various levels of giving. Maintains donor lists and continues cultivation/stewardship of donors with the School of PVFA in collaboration with the TAMF.  Generates reports using the TAMF CRM software.
