Development Economics Postdoctoral Researcher

The Department of Economics in the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences seeks a Development Economics Postdoctoral Researcher. As a Development Economics Postdoctoral Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in a project focused on deploying a Randomized Control Trial (RCT) for training elected women representatives in India to ensure water security within their communities during flood events. This project seeks to empower women leaders, promote sustainable water resource management, and enhance community resilience to floods. The project will leverage satellite data, secondary data sources, and primary survey data.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Conduct research and analysis related to the project.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement fieldwork in India.

  • Utilize STATA for data analysis and modeling.

  • Work with satellite and spatial data to inform project outcomes.

  • Engage with elected women representatives and community stakeholders in India.

  • Contribute to publications and reports highlighting project findings.

Minimum Requirements

Education: PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Development Economics, Economics, Environmental Economics, or a related field.

  • Bilingual proficiency in Hindi and English is desirable but not necessary. PhD or equivalent degree in Development Economics, Economics, Environmental Economics, or a related field.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in coding with STATA.

  • Experience working with satellite data and spatial data. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms to correct data anomalies desired.

  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in India.

  • Passion for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
