Job Description

Administrative Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible. This position is being filled through an emergency appointment. Appointment to the role on a permanent basis is contingent upon meeting additional recruitment requirements

The Development Coordinator provides critical support for the Advancement team and the WNC Foundation, supporting fundraising efforts, coordinating and growing the foundation’s scholarship program, providing event management/execution, supporting Foundation board meetings and providing support for other donor development/engagement activities for Western Nevada College.

This position is responsible for important outreach efforts and works directly with donors (individuals, foundations, businesses), students, and WNC employees to encourage philanthropy on behalf of the college, scholarship awards, and volunteer opportunities. Positive interaction with donors often motivates additional donations; negative interactions can hinder or prevent donations. Courteous, friendly and caring personal contact with donors, students and the community at large is critical to growing donations to the college and, therefore, critical to success in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the management of the annual $850,000 scholarship program. This includes management of the donor scholarship awarding software, AwardSpring, coordination with the financial aid office and scholarship committee to identify and award student scholarships as well as accurately tracking all scholarship activity to ensure accuracy

  • Delivers effective campaigns to recruit student applicants including attendance at community and college functions to encourage student applications

  • Contributes to scholarship donor development and revenue cultivation

  • Serves as the main point of contact between the development office, scholarship recipients, community volunteers and campus resources/services 

  • Leads coordination of annual scholarship publication, recruits publication sponsorships, contributes to content for scholarship publication

  • Accountable for meeting an annual funding goal by working with businesses, service organizations and private foundations to continue to grow the scholarship program

  • Supports fulfillment of grant awards including accountability reports relating to scholarships

  • Strongly contributes to all aspects of event planning and execution to ensure success. Leads various fundraising efforts such as procuring items for fundraising auctions, landing event sponsorships and driving event ticket sales

  • Contributes and often leads fundraising committees to deliver successful fundraising events and coordinates public relations, press releases, advertisements and social media and all mailings to promote events

  • Attends and contributes to all Foundation fundraising events 

  • Fully understands and utilizes WNC Foundation’s unique management systems including DonorPerfect, Quickbooks and AwardSpring Scholarship awarding software in order to provide critical back-up support for the Assistant Development Director

  • Manage the Foundation digital donor wall and website pages, ensuring content is updated, relevant and inspiring to donors

  • Responsible for leading the employee giving program, reaching out to employees with opportunities to support WNC’s programs

  • Responsible for accurate record-keeping of the employee giving program within Donorperfect and Quickbooks as well as working closely with payroll to make sure payroll deductions are made accurately and on time

  • Represents WNC Foundation to develop new donor relationships, manages a list of current donors, uncovers gift opportunities and cultivates strong relationships with donors residing in WNC’s service area. This involves setting up donor meetings, attending events, reaching out to new, potential donors as well as developing and identifying unique gift opportunities appealing to each donor 

  • Assists in the management of various WNC Foundation Board and committee meetings, taking minutes, posting formal agendas as well as understanding and adhering to Open Meeting Law

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload and job assignments; seeks out efficiencies and demonstrates good use of available resources; responds to changes in workload prioritization and department needs

  • Works with community members, volunteers and college employees in a cooperative, courteous and helpful manner; follows through to assume responsibility for actions; responds quickly to changing circumstances and donor needs

  • Strong computer skills 

  • Strong communication: verbal and written skills 

  • Ability to work independently and provide support in all areas of Advancement Team 

  • Travel between WNC Campuses 

  • Familiarity with event management and fundraising campaigns

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years of related professional experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree  (i.e., AA+3 or 4 yrs related professional experience).

Minimum Starting Salary Information:

This position is at a salary grade B. The minimum of the placement range is $54,634.72. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNC's placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule: NSHE ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
WNC is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
