Development Administrative Assistant at Cornell Tech, NYC


As part of the Alumni Affairs & Development (AAD) team raising philanthropic support for Cornell Tech during a university-wide campaign, the Development Administrative Assistant (DAA) will provide broad-based administrative support to the Cornell Tech AAD team in service of fundraising and engagement priorities. This individual serves as the team's administrative and logistics support to ensure efficient team workflow across a variety of team activities and responsibilities. The DAA will report to the Director of Alumni Affairs and Development (Director) at Cornell Tech and must demonstrate excellent judgment and take initiative on a wide array of projects.


Key responsibilities include activities such as:

  • Maintain the Associate Vice President of Alumni Affairs and Development at Cornell Tech and the Northeast Corridor (AVP) and the Director's calendar and the Cornell Tech AAD team's planning calendar, as well as schedule and organize team-wide meetings. Manage team travel and expenses, and assist with other responsibilities as needed
  • Coordinate team work-flow in conjunction with the Director and other members of the AAD team to facilitate donor activity and tracking. Includes producing reports based on fundraising data, tracking and monitoring incoming gifts, and inputting and maintaining data in a variety of information systems and databases.
  • Provide administrative support for fundraising and engagement officers, including meeting scheduling, crafting visit itineraries, preparing briefings and other support materials for AAD leadership at Cornell Tech, and drafting of acknowledgements.
  • Provide event planning and logistics support for cultivation and stewardship events, visits with VIP guests, and campus tours. Includes managing guest lists, invite creation, RSVP tracking, event staffing, and working with others at Cornell Tech on room booking, catering, and event logistics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and have demonstrated the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work with highly sensitive, personal information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of desktop and online applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Google Docs, etc.), databases, networked informational systems and the internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate events and meetings is required.
  • Must be able to work with and understand budgets/operating accounts, and prepare supporting documentation for business activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color.
