Job Summary

The CIT Desktop and Equipment Support Specialist is a hybrid position to support systems administration as well as equipment and laboratories for the Engineering & Technology Division. This position will report to the Associate Director of Laboratory Science Operations and Development.

Responsibilities*
  • Fulfill New Equipment Needs
  • Work with vendors to specify computer and other equipment configuration quotes.
  • Software Lifecycle Management
  • Perform software upgrades or patching as needed in line with course curriculum changes.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls on systems. Work with end users to address system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve technical problems.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Collaborating with other IT staff and departments to ensure operation of systems and services.
  • Participate in special events and assist with the setup of spaces.
  • Help with development of novel parts/components for research and/or upper-division courses
  • Preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and instrumentation in Engineering & Technology Division
  • Purchasing/Quotes
  • Management of service contracts
  • Inventory management and disposition for equipment and instrumentation in Engineering & Technology Division
  • Installation support
  • Liaison with facilities for specialty instrument needs

Required Qualifications*
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience in a related field
  • 2 or more years experience relevant to the job responsibilities of this position.
  • Hands-on experience installing and supporting hardware, software and networked systems in a multiprotocol environment

Work Schedule

This position requires a fully in-person work schedule at this time and is subject to change based upon the duties of the position and the needs of the department.


Background Screening
