The Design and Build Laboratory Manager oversees the American University Design and Build Laboratory (DaBL), a maker space environment that supports STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) research and education across the University. The position coordinates instruction and develops curriculum in the maker space for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff; enables innovative research and teaching; and promotes problem-based learning, design thinking, and rapid prototyping across the campus.

This full-time position is responsible for the successful operation of the Design and Build Lab (DaBL). This includes training on technology, equipment, software, safety, and techniques used in DaBL as well as the operation and maintenance of hardware including some or all of A/V hardware, tool room equipment (milling machine, lathe, bandsaw, welder, etc.), laser cutter, 3D printer, CNC equipment, DMMs, power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and embedded hardware (Raspberry Pi, Arduino)
