|Job Title||Desalination Science & Technology Postdoctoral Research Associate|
|Location||Los Alamos, NM, US|
|Organization Name||MPA-11/Materials Synthesis and Integrated Devices|
What You Will Do
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary team to conduct research on the science and technology of desalination. The aim of the project is to study the fundamental behavior of salt ions and other impurities in aqueous solutions, including the trace elements and hydrocarbons found in water co-produced with oil and gas. The current field of interest for the project is the physical, chemical, and electrical investigation of the behavior of dissolved ions and impurities in both high density, liquid-like, and low density, vapor-like, aqueous fluids at high temperatures and pressures. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other experimental and theoretical/computational scientists with mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering backgrounds. There will be extensive opportunities to work in a wide range of areas and to innovate.
Experience in high temperature experimentation, electrical measurements, materials characterization, non-destructive testing, building complex experimental setups, sensor development, impedance spectroscopy, or dielectric spectroscopy will be considered as important assets.
Candidates with experience in experimental sciences and keen interest in desalination science and technology are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
· Possess extensive hands-on experience in designing and conducting experiments,
· Proven ability to work creatively and independently,
· A demonstrated record of technical excellence and innovative thinking as evidenced by publication and presentation records and letters of reference,
· Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
Education: Candidates must have completed all PhD requirements by commencement of the appointment and must be within the last five years of completion of the PhD, specializing in physics, applied physics, geophysics, materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, geochemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Notes to Applicants:
Please send a cover letter addressing how you meet all of the required skills when applying for the position. A current C.V. with the minimum following information/sections is also required: Educational background, degree dates, GPA with scale, name of advisor(s); Work experience; Invited presentations; Grants; Peer-Reviewed Publications; Non-peer-reviewed Publications; Talks and Poster Presentations; contact information for at least 3 referees. Only complete applications with a cover letter and C.V. will be considered. References will not be contacted without permission from the applicant. For additional technical inquiries, contact Dr. Alp Findikoglu at email@example.com .
Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Candidates may be considered for a Director's Postdoc Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious Richard P. Feynman, Darleane Christian Hoffman, J. Robert Oppenheimer, or Frederick Reines Distinguished Postdoc Fellowships.
