35281   ADMIN OFCR 4   Deputy Director for UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Initiative   5558-14225   Career   1180-DEAN'S OFFICE, SPA     The UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Initiative (UCLA LPPI) seeks a strategic leader to serve as Deputy Director. UCLA LPPI addresses the most critical domestic policy challenges facing Latinos and other communities of color through research, advocacy, mobilization, and leadership development to propel policy reforms that expand genuine opportunity for all Americans.
This role requires a person with the strategic acumen and intellectual ability to advance sophisticated initiatives, exceptional project management and execution skills, and the interpersonal savvy to motivate and retain a cross-functional team for a dynamic and fast-paced research enterprise.
The Deputy Director will report directly to the Executive Director and identify as a highly motivated individual who can thrive as both a strategic and practical partner. The Deputy Director will develop and implement operational systems and communications channels to advance the organization's short- and long-term goals. Duties will include overseeing the creation of strategic plans, budgets, and financial reports; hiring, supervising and retaining staff; developing and implementing efficient operations processes; managing a sustained and successful philanthropic and individual donor fundraising strategy; identifying and leveraging a dynamic network of external partners to advance organizational goals; and supporting other functions on an as-needed basis.
The work will be fast paced, highly intellectual and often ambiguous. Aa successful candidate will need to blend flexibility with disciplined execution, attention to detail, and strong self-awareness and confidence in operating through informal channels as well as an established university hierarchy to anticipate and resolve challenges.
The Deputy Director is also required to serve as the executive director's representative as needed in a wide variety of settings both on and off-campus to develop external partnerships, facilitate philanthropic opportunities, and increase the public profile and impact of UCLA LPPI at the university seeks to achieve Hispanic Serving Institution status by 2025.   100   8:00 am   5:00 pm
