Department Summary
The Department of Geography offers four major concentrations and coordinates three minor programs. Geography majors may choose from a BS major concentration in Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience or in Environmental Planning and Conservation, or a BA major concentration in Global Sustainable Systems. The department also offers a BA major designed for double major students in Elementary Education. The department offers a minor in Geography and coordinates two interdisciplinary minor programs: Geographic Information Systems and Urban Studies and Planning. Department faculty are focused on delivering programs that help students build understanding about how humans intersect with the natural world. Geography majors learn a broad range of skills and knowledge applicable in a broad range of career opportunities.

Essential Duties
The Department of Geography at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates for the Fall 2024 semester. Courses include Introduction to Physical Geography lecture and lab.
Applicants should possess:
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and dedication to working with undergraduates.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
  • Skill in using technology effectively in teaching and learning.
  • Ability to teach in-person, on campus.

Courses include Human Geography and Physical Geography.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Geography or closely related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the university level preferred.
PhD in Geography or closely related field preferred.
