Department Summary
The mission of the BSU Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is to prepare generations of highly qualified speech language pathologists equipped with a thorough understanding of typical and atypical communication and swallowing processes and the best prevention, diagnostic and treatment practices; and to serve as a professional development, public awareness, and clinical resource for Southeastern Massachusetts communities and beyond.

Essential Duties
Required Qualifications
Terminal degree, PhD or EdD in a related field by September 1, 2024.
ASHA CCC/SLP and Massachusetts licensure in SLP or eligibility.

They should have an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, to work collaboratively, to show evidence of scholarly activity and to have a commitment to public higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical experience preferred.

Essential Duties (Historical)
The Department seeks candidates for a one-year, full-time, benefited temporary faculty position. The successful candidate will teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Course subjects may include graduate level aphasia, voice, fluency, speech sound disorders, assessment and diagnostics, dysphagia or medically related fields and undergraduate level anatomy and physiology, phonetics, language acquisition, and language disorders.
The successful candidate must also:
Demonstrate ability to use technology effectively in online and in-person teaching, and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Utilize an equity- minded framework to prepare lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourage student success to all students regardless of race.
Faculty members are expected to advise students, contribute service at the department, college and university levels as well as engage in ongoing scholarship and professional activity.
