Scope of Job | The Department of Theatre at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) occasionally has the need to hire Part – Time Lecturer (multiple positions) to teach in its Bachelor’s in the Theatre program for the Fall 2021. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university or local community as needed. UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV’s guiding principles (http://www.utrgv.edu/strategic-plan/ ), which include promoting access to postsecondary education to a diverse student body and to become one of the largest and most successful Hispanic-serving emerging research institutions in the U.S.A. Teaching assignments: Currently we are looking to create an adjunct pool in film production. Applicants will need to have experience in teaching one or more of the following:
Upper division courses will need an MFA or PhD in area. |
Minimum Qualifications | The qualifications to be considered as an adjunct appointment in theatre are an MA/ MFA in Film production or MA. MA in related area with 18 hours of graduate film production or theatre courses will be considered. |
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications | Ability to demonstrate strong technical skills in the teaching area, as well as use of related software specific to discipline. (Where applicable) Editing I and II require experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects. |
Preferred Qualification | Teaching experience is desirable, terminal degree in area preferred. Applicants with experience in more than one area preferred. |
Salary | Part-time Lecturers are paid per course taught commensurate with experience and/or qualifications. This appointment is contingent upon enrollment and scheduling needs of the Theatre program. |

Additional Information | UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the positioning at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. |
