Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Lamar University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in the department of Educational Leadership.
The successful candidate will maintain an active research and publication agenda; provide guidance and leadership in the graduate programs in Educational Leadership.; work collaboratively with program coordinators and department chair; teach graduate courses; interact with practicum students to provide feedback or answer individual questions; advise, mentor, and provide research supervision to graduate students; fulfill service responsibilities to the department, college, university and profession; work in collaboration with other colleagues in the Educational Leadership Department and the College of Education and Human Development.
Key Competencies:
  • Experience in online education and course development.
  • Experience teaching graduate level courses.
  • Experience in P-12 school administration. Preference given to those with Principal certification.
  • A commitment to engage in ongoing scholarship with clear connections to educational leadership or administration that lead to publications and/or external funding.
  • A commitment to establishing and maintaining partnerships with school districts, community colleges, community agencies, universities, and industry partners.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or closely related field by August 2024.
  • Evidence of expertise and/or experience in P-12 school administration (campus or district level).
  • A record of excellence, or demonstrate the potential for excellence, in teaching graduate courses in at least two of the following areas: educational leadership; research methods; school law; educational technology; instructional leadership; curriculum management; district governance; school finance; human resources; special populations; or administrative internships/practicums.
  • Evidence of strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to serve on or chair dissertation committees.
  • Required to be involved and engaged on the Lamar campus.
