Description of Work Unit
The Department of Animal Sciences has the unique mission of serving Colorado’s large and diverse livestock industries. Research, teaching and extension outreach activities in the Department of Animal Sciences focus on developing industry leaders and improving profitable production of horses and food animals through the application of science and technology, resource management and food product enhancement, with emphasis on addressing societal issues concerning food safety, product quality and value, animal care and management, and environmental impacts of animal agriculture.

Position Summary
Contract, Continuing or Temporary/Adjunct Faculty (CCAF) positions may open in order to address teaching and instruction needs in the department. This pool is specific to the Teaching Career Pathway which includes classification as an Instructor or Senior Instructor or Master Instructor.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution for Instructor level appointment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.
  • Additional required qualifications, classification and appointment terms including salary determined by specific position to be filled.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by course start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship.
    Instructor: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution and limited professional experience
    Senior Instructor: Instructor or Master’s degree and five years relevant professional experience
    Master instructor: Senior Instructor appointment or terminal/equivalent degree in discipline related field plus 10 years relevant professional experience
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Advanced degrees and/or DVM in animal sciences or highly relevant discipline.
  • Teaching experience in a higher education setting.
