What you need to know  


Proposed Minimum Salary: $20.00 hourly


Work Schedule/Location: This is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • One year of related experience in a dental office or similar setting

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR certified.

  • Dental Assistant (Texas) X-ray certification

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of radiographic processes and procedures.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience with intraoral and extraoral dental radiographs

  • Experience with maintaining state mandated radiation safety standards and compliance.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Radiation Safety Maintenance 

  • Ensures all monitoring equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained.

  • Performs testing of sensors and unit testing across all clinics to include off-site locations.

  • Maintains data, records, and documentation.

  • Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards mandated by the state board of dentistry and the TX DSHS

  • Assists Radiation and Laser Safety Officer as required.
     

Patient Services

  • Ensures patients are properly situated, acquires all types of intraoral and extra oral radiographs including panoramic and cephalometric radiographs.

  • Prepares digital scanners and image acquisition units for daily use, including routine quality assurance.

  • Keeps instruments sterilized and work area clean.

  • Assists faculty and staff with patient treatment in the Radiology and Screening Clinic.


Other

  • Takes inventory and orders supplies for dental x-ray facilities.

  • Assists students as required.

  • Screens calls, makes appointments, assists patient with questionnaires and enters data into computer.
