Dental Laboratory Technician II

The School of Dentistry is currently seeking a Dental Laboratory Technologist. Employees in this job serve as dental laboratory technicians  applying the methods and techniques required to fabricate and repair prosthetic dental appliances. Performs all phases of removable and some fixed prostheses and aides in the student education process. Assist in the fabrication of complete dentures which can include impression pouring, articulation, setting teeth, acrylic processing, finishing and polishing, and occlusal equilibration. Fabricates simple and complex partial dentures which includes surveying casts, participating in design, clasp construction and all other steps involved in actual fabrication and finishing. Fabricate hard and soft occlusal guards. Be proficient and utilize digital media (3Shape, Cerec) in the design and fabrication of removable dental prostheses. Must be able to communicate with Faculty, Staff and Students.

 


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Recommend Associates Degree in the Applied Science of Dental Laboratory Technology or Equivalent (Military Technical Training School).
  • 3-5 Years Lab experience.
  • Knowledge of dental materials, procedures and terminology
  • Ability to operate various forms of dental equipment.
  • Experience in digital concepts recommended
  • Understanding of service oriented environment
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills
  • Ability to maintain standards of cleanliness

  • Able to work independently
  • Have a working knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
  • Ability to operate various forms of dental equipment and dental technology

  • Computer skills – MS Office -Outlook, Excel; electronic dental record
  • Skills assessment is required as part of the interview
