Hiring Range: $15.01 - $18.01/hourly
 

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

Under the Assistant Dean of PreClinical Affairs, the Dental Lab Technician provides service and technical support for the maintenance and repair of a variety of dental equipment and information technology (IT) related problems in the College of Dentistry, University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The position will include simulation stations, x-ray machines, and other miscellaneous dental equipment and instruments, which are located in the General Education Building preclinical laboratories.


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Maintains and/or repairs existing dental laboratory equipment such as Kavo dental simulation stations (air-driven hand pieces, dental lights, dental-type units). 
  • Attends periodic technology seminars sponsored by equipment manufacturers in different parts of the United States.
  • Maintains and repairs dental x-ray equipment in the GEB Dental Laboratory.
  • Processes, orders, and maintains appropriate inventory of repair parts and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  
     

    EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED, certification document from a vocational, training school, or applicable institution. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)


     

    EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of similar experience above. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and air operated systems. Experience in maintenance of dental equipment with specialized, additional training in dental laboratory facilities and information technology (IT) computer technology is preferred. Maintenance experience provided by dental manufacturers (ongoing certification courses) is preferred. Basic IT capabilities, with preference to expanded knowledge of computer-generated equipment technologies. Interpersonal and problem solving abilities pertinent to the maintenance and repair of preclinical, laboratory dental equipment involving computer-assisted, simulation technology in an academic environment.


     

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certification in the repair/maintenance of dental equipment; computer-assisted simulation preferred. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)       


     
    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally work weekends.
