The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking a full time, Dental Claims Accounts Receivable Specialist. The position will have opportunity for remote work.

The Dental Claims Accounts Receivable Specialist functions as an integral member of the Patient Financial Services team in the College of Dentistry. The position will focus specifically on activities related to minimizing accounts receivable for the College of Dentistry including, but not limited to, researching, and correcting dental claims submission errors, posting insurance and patient payments, managing prior authorization requests, following up on past due accounts receivable balances with both 3rd party payors and patients. In addition, the Specialist will be expected to identify opportunities for process improvement.

The Specialist will possess strong attention to detail, precision, and accuracy. Prior experience with cash applications, collections, and financial transactions are a must. Required skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively interact with and influence team members, patients, students, and faculty; understanding of computers and programs, including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, and electronic medical records; capacity to adapt to emerging technology to streamline processes and make an impact. The Specialist must be able to combine their skills and experience to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be energized by challenges, and keep pace with the dynamic nature of the role.

Work Schedule: Full-time: 40 hrs per week, Monday-Friday. After successful job training, option to work 100% remote with occasional on-site workdays due to meetings, trainings, etc.

Required Screenings: This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.

Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to push / pull carts containing office supplies, bend / stretch / twist to pick up supplies, maintain professional office appearance, stand, and walk for periods of time serving and assisting customers.

Experience and Education:

Required: High School or equivalent and minimum of 2 years’ experience in Dental or Medical Accounts Receivable. Familiarity with electronic payments, prior authorization, insurance follow-up, etc.

Desired: 4-6 years' experience or associate degree and minimum of 2 years’ experience dedicated to managing Dental or Medical Accounts Receivable, including proven success in minimizing accounts receivable and improving related functions and processes
