Degree Audit Analyst
The George Mason University Office of the Registrar invites applications for a Degree Audit Analyst position. Responsibilities:
The Degree Audit Analyst is a member of the Degree Audit team, responsible for translating the degree program requirements from the Catalog and coding them into the degree audit system. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date degree evaluations based on approved revisions submitted through the curriculum management system. The Degree Audit Analyst exhibits high attention to detail and brings issues to the attention of the Sr. Degree Audit Analyst or the Assistant Registrar in a timely manner. This position requires initiative to test and troubleshoot updated requirements in the degree audit system.
The incumbent’s main duties include, but are not limited to:
Degree Audit Support:
  • Maintain degree audits consistent with degree requirements specified in the University Catalog. Assist with problem-solving degree audit issues as they occur. Test degree evaluations thoroughly as necessary (new or adjusted audits, system updates, etc.). Work with Assistant Registrar for Degree Compliance, and Registrar’s IT staff to identify and resolve technical issues that affect the degree audit system;
  • Work with auditors, other sections of the Registrar’s Office, and outside departments as necessary to maintain proper degree evaluation performance. Assist with reporting and other duties related to degree evaluations (e.g., athletic audits and special programs);
  • Special projects as assigned, beyond the maintenance of the degree audit platform. Help to implement new components of the audit systems. Support specialty populations like Non-Degree programs, Honors College, TransferVA, ADVANCE, etc. Support the curriculum approval process as needed;
  • Process complex academic records transactions that will have a special effect on the degree audit. This may include substitutions/waivers, Reduction of Credit, or other exception paperwork; and
  • Develop and maintain a highly detailed level of knowledge regarding all academic programs at the university. In particular, maintain expertise on the requirements students must fulfill to graduate, and the academic policies which affect those requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to employ logic to solve problems;
  • Demonstrated ability to process large volumes of work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy; and
  • Detail-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Ellucian Banner student information system;
  • Experience with academic programs and their requirements;
  • Experience with degree evaluation and/or student information system software; and
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities.
