Ave Maria University is seeking applicants for the position of Defensive Secondary Coach.  It is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Defensive Coordinator and to the Head Football Coach

The Secondary Coach will have responsibility for the performance of the defensive backs.  The coach’s role is to teach, train, and develop the skills of the student athletes in the sport of football while integrating the Catholic faith through mentorship and virtue development.  The coach bears the responsibility for the recruitment and signing of defensive prospects at his position, as well as the recruitment and signing of football players from within designated geographic areas.

Candidates will be expected to adhere to all guidelines and regulations set forth by the Sun Conference, the NAIA, and Ave Maria University.

Candidates will be expected to adhere to all guidelines and regulations set forth by the Mid-South Conference, the NAIA, and Ave Maria University.

Physical Skills and Abilities: Requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to conduct practice, attend and coach games and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 – 50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, type and perform data entry, visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information, ability to speak and hear in order to coach and recruit and answer questions. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, and stand for prolonged periods of time and travel and work evenings and weekends as needed to attend away games.
