Northern State University seeks a Dean of the School of Business, a full-time, twelve-month position, to begin June 2024. 
 
Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, innovative and experienced leader who is committed to strategic enrollment growth and guiding the School of Business to prominence as the leading regional institution in Business and community engagement. The new Dean will have the opportunity to guide the School of Business in fully leveraging the new Northern Business and Health Innovation Center, a new $31 million facility scheduled to open in fall 2025. An MBA or equivalent degree is required, with a doctorate in a business-related field preferred. 
 
Responsibilities: The Dean will report to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs with the following responsibilities:
·       Oversee the academic programs and faculty in the School of Business. 
·       Coordinate with the Finance and Administration Office as the new building is constructed. Lead the School of Business transition into the new building. 
·       Lead enrollment growth for the School, working with the University Admissions Department on development of effective enrollment growth strategies.
·       Supervise and provide collaborative vision for the newly launched Northern Innovation and Startup Center. 
·       Lead individuals and teams of faculty/staff to respond to student and community needs.
·       Work with faculty and administrators to develop on-campus and online courses and academic programs.
·       Direct academic processes to facilitate positive student outcomes and faculty development.
·       Serve as the primary ambassador of the School to the community and obtain community support to advance the School of Business.
·       Evaluate assessment plans for all majors, retention of students, recruitment, and other related areas.
·       Manage budgets in support of School of Business programs.
·       Manage processes for School of Business ACBSP accreditation and SD Board of Regents reporting. 
·       Establish initiatives and policies that promote the mission of Northern State University.

Department Description and Cultural Expectations
The School of Business offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Management Information Systems, Banking and Financial Services, Finance, International Business, Business Administration, Management, Marketing, and Accounting. Associate’s degrees and minors are available in several areas. The School of Business offers master’s programs in Accounting Analytics and Banking and Financial Services. The School currently employs 16 full-time faculty, one program director, and two support staff. With over 9% growth in business majors in the last three years, and a new building in the works, the NSU School of Business has momentum to make an even greater impact in the region. Northern’s School of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
