Indiana University (IU) East seeks an eminent and accomplished leader to serve as the next Dean of the School of Business & Economics .
The School of Business & Economics is a leading innovator in rigorous, multidisciplinary, academic studies. The School has established itself as a regional leader in preparing our students as future business leaders, combining IU’s rich legacy of learning with applied research and practical focus. Its experienced faculty put students first and contribute to the advancement of teaching, scholarship, and service.
THE IU EAST SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS
The IU East School of Business and Economics is AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited. The School offers the largest major on campus, a B.S. in Business Administration with minors in Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Financial Forensic Investigations, Informatics, Sports Marketing and Management, and Supply Chain Management. The School also offers a B.S. in Informatics and B.S. in Accounting, a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree, a Master of Science in Management and Master of Science in Strategic Finance. The School currently includes 21 full-time faculty members and 2 administrative staff members. The School of Business and Economics is the second largest at IU East, in terms of student enrollment of over 500 undergraduate and graduate students. The School supports a significant number of online students in each of the programs mentioned above.

ROLE OF THE DEAN
The Dean, reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at IU East, serves as the chief strategic, academic, and administrative officer for the School. This individual is responsible for defining the School’s direction and priorities at the highest level; overseeing and maintaining the School’s accreditation status; growth and development; managing personnel, budget, and policy; and shaping the experience for faculty, students, and staff.
Direct reports to the Dean include an associate dean, as well as the faculty, staff, and directors of the academic centers.
Key opportunities for the incoming Dean include:
  • Leading the development and implementation of the School’s next strategic plan, focusing on the mission and vision and its future growth.
  • Enhancing academic and research excellence, including by recruiting and retaining strong and accomplished faculty members.
  • Enhancing the enrollment of the school programs.
  • Ensuring student academic success and professional preparation through an innovative curriculum.
  • Deepening the School’s organizational strength and cohesion.
  • Growing financial resources, including in partnership with the local and regional communities, to expand opportunities for students and faculty while making strategic and operating investments for the future.
Basic Qualifications
For the School of Business & Economics Dean, Indiana University East seeks an exceptional leader who is passionate about the mission, committed to its standards of excellence, and prescient and optimistic about its future potential. The University is open to considering candidates who have been shaped by a variety of experiences, including experience managing AACSB accredited institutions, leadership in the academic, private, professional, or nonprofit sectors.
A terminal degree in, or related to, the school’s areas of study is required. Candidates should have a record of successful scholarship, a demonstrable record of engagement in higher education, or other leadership experiences that would qualify them to hold a tenured faculty position at IU.
While no one person will likely embody all the professional qualifications, skills, experiences, and personal qualities desirable in this role, the successful candidate will bring many of the following:
