Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
Responsible for strategic direction, oversight and management of the Eberhardt School of Business (“School”). Charged with upholding the University’s mission to provide a superior, student-centered learning experience integrating liberal arts and professional education and preparing individuals for lasting achievement and responsible leadership in their careers and communities. Responsible for ensuring that all School of Business academic programs are of the highest quality and meet standards of accrediting agencies. Responsible for enhancing the financial stability and sustainability of the School in alignment with the University’s strategic enrollment goals and student success. Leverages internal and external opportunities to enhance the reputation of the School. Serves as member of Council of Deans.
Essential Functions
  • Develops visionary, energetic goals for the school that strategically respond to the University’s enrollment and advancement plans. These goals should include growing student enrollment, improving student success, and supporting innovative interdisciplinary and internationally oriented educational programs utilizing the rich and diverse resources of our comprehensive university.
  • Enhances and promotes the School as a core strength of the University. Supports the University’s distinctive general education program, encouraging pedagogical innovation and increasing opportunities for student participation in experiential learning including scholarship/research, internships and international study.
  • Enhances the intellectual vitality of the School by promoting and developing increased support for faculty scholarship (including the scholarship of teaching and learning) entrepreneurial creativity, including collaborative projects with students.
  • Continues to build an inclusive community and works to increase the diversity of school’s faculty, staff, and students promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion and equity among students, faculty and staff and the academic programs.
  • Ensures the continued strength of school by developing strategies that will increase enrollment and position school for success in the current comprehensive fundraising campaign.
  • Builds and strengthens alumni relationships and encourages regional and national outreach.
  • Participates in cooperative relations with other schools and programs on campus.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution in his or her field and an outstanding record of scholarly achievement commensurate with appointment as full professor.
  • Five (5) years of administrative and/or leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A record of successful administrative and/or leadership experience at a college or university.
  • A history of providing students with a high-quality educational experience and a clear record of accomplishment in student success.
  • Achievement in or an ability to develop private investment.
  • Experience as a seasoned, decisive leader and diplomat with strong organizational and consensus-building skills, integrity, and the ability to inspire and lead faculty with diverse interests.
  • A record of success in recruiting and retaining talented and diverse faculty; a champion of faculty eager to excel in teaching, research, and creative activities.
  • A data driven leadership style that employs the appropriate facts to inform decision making.
  • Well-developed fiscal management experience, both in establishing and implementing budgets along with a record in balancing resources with responsibilities within and across the institution.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with the use of computer, phone and other office equipment. Position requires evening and weekend hours as necessary to completely discharge duties.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range $210,252 - $389,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
