Position Summary: Our College of Arts and Science is currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill our Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, with a preferred start date of July 1, 2021. One of four colleges at the University, the College of Arts and Sciences has 38 full-time faculty, almost 200 adjunct faculty, two assistant deans and an administrative support staff of four.  Curricular areas include psychology, clinical counseling, communication, history, art, English, and our Kirkpatrick Signature Series.  As the clinical counseling program is accredited by CACREP, experience with specialized accreditation processes and accreditation boards is preferred.

We are looking for a leader who will:

  • Build strong relationships and ensure collaboration within and outside of the College

Essential Functions:

  • Provide effective leadership for growth and innovation in education programs and courses.
  • Oversee the management and administration of the College to ensure a high caliber-learning environment.
  • Appraise and improve academic outcomes, courses, programs and curriculum
  • Supervise the work of faculty, assistant deans and college assistants
  • Ensure effective operations and budgetary functions in the College
  • Ensure compliance with the standards of the Higher Learning Commission and other pertinent accrediting and governmental agencies as well as institutional policies
  • Collaborate, evaluate, shape and develop University Alliances and external partnerships.


  • Ph.D. or relevant terminal degree preferred.
  • An established record of success leading and advancing the educational goals of an academic college/unit; successful experience as a department chair, institute director, dean or associate dean is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience required in academic leadership with demonstrated management competencies including the knowledge of budgeting, planning, quality improvements, and proven experience in the resolution of student-facing issues.
  • Proven knowledge and evidence of leadership in academic planning; program development, implementation and evaluation; and personnel management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated work experience with adult learners and a variety of learning formats.
  • Three years of higher education teaching experience preferred.
