Job Summary
The Gatton College of Business and Economics is seeking a new Chief Financial and Human Resources Officer (CFO). Reporting to the Dean; this individual serves as a strategic partner on the College’s Operating Committee and the Gatton Senior Operations Team. The CFO oversees a team accountable for the financial and human resource management of the College. Areas of responsibility include budgeting, accounting, financial analysis, human resources, and risk management. Candidates for this position should have substantial experience in the finance and human resource functions of an educational institution, a non-profit organization, or in private industry. The CFO will supervise a Business Office team. The Business Office in the Gatton College strives for continuous improvement through the refinement of business processes. Another critical focus of this team is the provision of outstanding service that is timely, accurate, and courteous.
The Gatton College of Business and Economics is nearing its 100th anniversary. Over that time, we have been preparing principled leaders for the global economy, producing high quality, influential research, and supporting economic growth in Kentucky and beyond. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Microsoft Office, personnel skills, professionalism, communication skills. SAP preferred.
  • In particular, candidates will need to have demonstrated:
  • A track record in budgeting and long-range financial planning
  • Success in managing a collaborative team
  • A strong background in annual, capital, and endowment fund accounting
  • Technical competency in not-for-profit accounting, regulation, and compliance
  • The capacity to explore trends, both within an organization and in the broader context
  • An understanding of cost accounting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to use, learn, and evaluate financial software systems
  • Excellent understanding of financial reporting, account review, ability to build forecasting models and utilize financial data for decision making are a must.
  • Demonstrated experience in human resource management.

Preferred Education/Experience
Experience as a Controller, Financial Analyst, Human Resource Manager
An MBA or other similar advanced degree or certification is preferred.
Experience with process, policy review, and implementation would also be highly valued.
A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field with a minimum of 8 years of work experience in accounting, finance, budgeting and human resources.
